How to measure your wall for a custom wall mural

Measuring your wall accurately is essential to ensure a perfect fit for your bespoke wall covering. Follow these simple steps to measure square, rectangular, and more complex wall shapes like those with doors, sloping roofs, or uneven edges.

Standard square or rectangular walls

  1. Measure the width of your wall from left to right, and the height from top to bottom using a tape measure.

  2. Always measure at the widest and tallest points, you can select either centimetres or feet and inches when you customise your selected design online.

  3. You will need to add an extra 10 cm / 3.9 inches to both the width and height to account for bleed/excess design. This ensures an easier installation and perfect alignment and is simply trimmed off at installation.

Measuring multiple walls

  1. For multiple walls, measure each one individually, capturing the highest and widest points for both height and width.

  2. Combine the dimensions of each wall by adding the widths together to create a continuous measurement. Use the highest measurement of all walls for the total height to ensure consistency. So for example if wall A. measures a width of 300 cm x 250 cm high and wall B. measures 320 cm x 260 cm at it’s highest point you would give us a size of wall A width + wall B width giving a finished size of 620 cm wide x 260 cm high.

  3. Remember we add an extra free 10 cm / 3.9 inches to both the width and height to account for bleed/excess design. This ensures an easier installation and perfect alignment and is simply trimmed off at installation.

Walls with doors, windows, or other openings

  1. Measure the entire wall as a full square or rectangle, ignoring any doors or windows.

  2. Don’t deduct openings from the overall wall size.

  3. Remember we add an extra free 10 cm / 3.9 inches inches to both the width and height to account for bleed/excess design. This ensures an easier installation and perfect alignment and is simply trimmed off at installation.

Sloping ceilings or uneven-shaped walls

  1. Measure the wall as if it were a complete square or rectangle, taking the widest and tallest points as your main dimensions.

  2. For sloping ceilings, measure the height at both the highest and lowest points and the width at the widest part of the wall.

  3. Remember we add an extra free 10 cm / 3.9 inches to both the width and height to account for bleed/excess design. This ensures an easier installation and perfect alignment and is simply trimmed off at installation.

By following these steps, you ensure that your custom wall covering will fit seamlessly, bringing your unique design and vision to life. For any extra advice on measurements, our team is here to assist you every step of the way!
