How to hang a peel and stick mural

Your Tailored Wall mural has been thoughtfully designed to bring character and artistry to your space. To ensure a seamless and stunning installation, please follow these simple steps:

Step 1.

Before you begin

Freshly painted walls need time to settle—please allow at least 4 weeks before application. If you encounter any issues during installation, stop immediately and contact us with photos. We’re here to ensure your experience is as effortless as our designs are timeless.

Let the wallpaper acclimatise to your room’s temperature before you begin to prevent shrinkage. For the perfect finish, you’ll need:

  • Straight edge
  • Very sharp knife with new blade (Stanley/craft)

  • Tape measure
  • Microfibre cloth
  • Plumb line or spirit level
  • Pencil
  • Plastic squeegee smoother (with felt edge) or a straight edge with a soft cloth wrapped around it for smoothing.
Step 2.

Preparing your wall

A flawless application begins with a clean, smooth wall. Remove any loose wallpaper, cracked or peeling paint, nails, and screws. Fill any holes and cracks, and sand uneven surfaces. If your wall is porous or highly absorbent, apply a primer for better adhesion.

Step 3.

Preparing the mural panels

Your bespoke wallpaper panels arrive lovingly crafted, numbered, and ready for arrangement. Unroll each panel and check the order before starting. Lay them out sequentially to ensure a harmonious flow of pattern or design.

Step 4.

Hanging the first panel

Peel back the top section of the release liner from your first panel. Gently position the adhesive side onto the wall, pressing it firmly into place from the top down. Use a squeegee to remove air bubbles, working outward to ensure a smooth surface. Continue removing the liner gradually as you press the wallpaper firmly against the wall.

Step 5.

Joining panels seamlessly

For the next panel, align the design carefully without overlapping. Butt the edges together for a near-invisible seam. Press firmly along the join for a seamless finish.

Step 6.

Drying time

Allow the wallpaper to settle and dry at room temperature for at least 24 hours. Avoid drastic temperature or humidity changes during this time.
